TORONTO CONFERENCE October 2008
The 10thAbbeyfield International Convention took place in Toronto, Canada from Saturday 18th October to Monday 20th October 2008.

Objectives of the Convention
w To review where the Abbeyfield movement stands in providing housing, support and care for older people around the world.
w To consider alternative ideas within national societies for the creation and funding of new Abbeyfield houses and local societies.
w To provide an opportunity for existing and prospective Abbeyfielders, particularly those in Canada, to share experiences of Abbeyfield operations and development in different countries.
w To consider the role of the Abbeyfield International office in supporting member national societies and in promoting the international development of Abbeyfield
w To attract interested people of influence and means to join the Abbeyfield movement. (e.g. bankers, funders, donors, partners, governments etc.
w To focus on Abbeyfield Development in North America, and the opportunities offered by the ‘Life Lease’ model.
